FRIENDS OF ERTSUL

Inside every ERTSUL package you will find other artefacts made by a variety of other creatives and artists. Every artist has been chosen because their values and and ideas align with ERTSUL’s. However they all of course have their own nuanced and unique experiences of life, which you will find expressed in their work.

The idea is that through including the work of these artists in these packages, you can find out about other similar creatives through which you can learn and explore the world. The artists are supported and your experience is enriched by the depth and creativity of their work. The artists involved have all been given freedom with the work they want to include in the packaging, allowing them a platform to share their vision and ideas, whilst enriching your experience.

Sometimes the artists’ work will serve a purpose within the packaging, e.g. a crochet jewellery pouch, other times, you will find colourful prints to decorate your house, or incense to bring calm and presence to your day.

After a certain amount of orders, the contents of ERTSUL’s packaging changes, and the artefacts included are rotated to feature new artists/creatives.

The artists currently featured are:

Capitaine Crochet
Manon is an independent crochet artist, and is responsible for the beautiful, one of a kind hand-crocheted jewellery pouch that your piece arrived cradled in. Manon is currently based in North West London, and is exploring her style whilst making a variety of pieces, which often consist of detailed customs and intricate crochet garments.

Manon made these pouches especially for ERTSUL from second hand/destined for waste cotton yarn.

Heather Chambers
Heather is a proudly Stockport based artist and founder of Roots Riso - a female ran printing collective - and Underbank Studios - a not for profit arts hub/studio in Stockport. She was also the first stranger to ever order an ERTSUL ring.

Each order may contain a piece she made just for you - that depicts some of the values we both consider important. It is riso-printed in Hackney on card made from recycled coffee cups by Duplikat Press.

DiOCORE
Dio Dunbar is a non-binary, multidisciplinary artist creating works that

display black transness and joy in intimate and organic ways. He is currently working on establishing a body of work that encompasses the fluidity of his identity, as well as creating illustrations that put black queer people in fantastical, digital spaces.

You may find one of Dio’s wonderful prints inside your package, printed on 100% recycled, unbleached paper using inks derived from organic biomass.

Duplikat Press
Duplikat Press is a Hackney based Risograph studio and shop, producing eco-friendly prints, stationery and publications. Riso printing is a speedy, low cost and environmentally friendly printing technique that uses soy-based inks. I first found out about riso printing through Heather - another Friend of ERTSUL.

Duplikat printed the ERTSUL inserts inside each package, printed on ‘Alga Carta’ - a paper  made from eco-system damaging algae from the Venice Lagoon.
